Range Time

South Texas Pistolero has the heads up about a pretty sweet deal on 9mm...

Sounds like 9mm ammo at AmmoMan.com for $.16 per round. Not bad in an ammo can.

I have one on the way, will let you know more once I have it.

FTC Website

I tried to get on the FTC website for work today.

You've probably heard about the asinine shutdown of websites going on.

Well, now you can count me as a victim. You have got to be kidding me.

But, just like the Russians, I have a plan to get around Obama.

The page I needed was cached.  :)

Too funny-

I might be 9mm Bacon, but I love me some .45.

The pocket pistol game may be fun, but I love 1911's the most.

That's why this cracked me up from one of the ammo places online:

Drone Hunting Education

The way things are going, I fully expect some folks to start offering classes here closer to home.

From the AP:

Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards paramilitary units plan to teach drone-hunting to school students.  Iranian hardliners have long sought a larger role for the military in the country's education system. Students at both junior and senior high schools currently take courses focusing on "civil defense.  Iran captured a U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel drone in 2011 after it entered Iranian airspace. Since then, Tehran says it has seized more U.S. drones, including a Boeing-designed ScanEagle.

Kind of reminds me of this old April Fool's joke:

This is scary for my 9 to 5. Software that tracks your eye movement and can tell your boss (or big brother) when you're gazing at something you shouldn't be.

You may have seen the commercial for that new Samsung phone. It pauses if you're watching a video and have to turn away. Creepy, right?

Hump Day?

More photos of the White House dog please.

At the same time the Egyptian military brutally beat threw a beat-down on Muslim Brotherhood protesters in Egypt, the White House Twitter feed made sure you got wind of this important statement.

Egypt was/is in a state of emergency.

It's cool, Biden had a photo-op with a camel.

Bono the Closet Capitalist?

I never saw it coming.

I'm not the biggest U2 fan in history but I'll admit to being a fan and even owner of some of their earlier albums (The Joshua Tree, etc.).
The Joshua Tree was released in 1987. Image courtesy: Mercury Records

In a recent interview, Bono discussed his faith, C.S. Lewis, and the power of capitalism. What? The guy I generally thought of more as a walking package for welfare, aid, and handouts seems to recognize that's not the way to fix the world.

“Aid is just a stopgap,” he said. “Commerce [and] entrepreneurial capitalism take more people out of poverty than aid. We need Africa to become an economic powerhouse.”

I didn't see it coming. In my mind, shouldn't this lead to the question of why Bono continues to promote various aid and welfare programs around the world if he recognizes it isn't the solution.
